Eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD) causes significant concern for parents and morbidity for children especially as it is followed by persistent middle ear inflammation with hearing loss, earache, recurrent infections. Immunological and allergological diseases can cause ETD, but no standards on adequate diagnostic pathways and treatment strategies have been defined. This task force aims to review the allergic and immune contribution to eustachian tube dysfunction and to define open questions and research needs.

Severe allergic eye diseases, such as Vernal Keratoconjunctivitis and atopic keratoconjunctivitis can be difficult to manage. Patients can have inadequate control despite maximal available treatments. Vision impairment can occur as a consequence of the condition and due to adverse effects from treatments used. The ocular and epidemiology working groups will collaborate to quantify the burden of visual impairment in Europe, as a consequence of severe allergic eye disease and its managements.

The characterization of CRS-endotypes focusses on the inflammatory disease mechanisms. Special endotypes allow for treatment with specific monoclonal antibodies (biologicals).

Until now, no internationally accepted endotype definition exists for CRS/CRSwNP.

This TF will focuss on the characterization of CRS-endotypes and the definition of diagnostic measures or biomarkers for routine treatment and for scientific studies and thus to help identifying patient groups that will benefit most from new personalized therapies.
